The Book of Eli~

*The Book of Eli*

I happened to watch this movie with my colleague when I was in Ipoh last week. Although we had to ciaoz in the middle of the movie, it actually impacted me quite a bit.

The movie started with a ruined world, due to a nuclear war 30 years ago. The world has totally changed, what left was a bunch of mutated survivals who are willing to do anything to survive, this including to eat human flesh. They have become so mutated that their hands shake due to over eating of human flesh, drinking human blood, or simply, due to living under a nuclear-contaminated environment. Disgusting.

Eventually when I think about it. This story was based on bible study where Jesus has already predicted what will happen to us in the end of the day. We are not ruined by natural disasters or other catastrophic events, but we are all killed by our own hands. We created the war, we exploited our mother's natural resources, we contaminated our own home. If we die today, it is all because of us. No other reasons.

I would say this is a movie of reflection. In fact nowadays there are increasingly more and more movies with this kinda theme, natural disasters, the end of the world, a new world, etc. All of these bring the same message, that our earth is changing, slowly but noticeably.

Just be more observant and look around. Our world was used to be very peaceful a few decades ago, but now natural disasters are everywhere around us. Just 2009 alone, we are struck by earthquake, winter storm, flood, tsunami, wildfire, and many more. How many people died and how many lost their homes and loved ones? When everyone is focusing on saving the victims and how other countries tried to help, who actually see the other side of the picture? Who, who on Earth caused all these to happen? Can we blame our mother? Or we should point the finger to ourselves?

Besides, how about global warming? Can anyone feel the extremely hot weather nowadays? How about the exploitation of natural resources? How about population expansion? Do we have enough clean water and food and land to support this much of people? What happen when we do not have enough resources to keep everyone survive? I seriously cannot imagine.

As an individual, I dare not say that I have done alot for the environment. But I hope that at least all the people living on this planet, we have the courtesy to really think for our mother, to have the basic awareness of what is going to happen if we do not do anything right now.

Clock is ticking, earth is slowly evolving, don't ruin it with our hands. God bless.

I miss him~

The weather is so freaking HOT! Ever since Chinese New Year or before that, it is like that already. In the afternoon if you plan for a nap or so, often time you will end up in a sauna room if you didn't on the aircond. Frustrated.

I miss my dear badly. Seeing that he has quite a bunch of pending works to settle and some unresponsive people from his side that drag his work, I really pity him and wish I will be there all the time. Plus the super hot weather, I know he will be sweating around but at the same time couldn't do much about it.

Really hope that things will go well for him. All the best darling, you have my support. =) Love you.

Scary H1N1~

*Influenza Pandemic... again... @@*

Latest report from the local newspaper, there are 3 locally transmitted H1N1 in Malaysia already and one primary school was closed for a week. Currently the number of infected patients has break the record of 50 people, while about 33 people are still in hospitals and more than 2500 people are being quarantined at home. Well... seems like the condition is getting out of hand... @@

The health minister is trying to do something, the media is reporting everyday for the latest progress and updates and you can even find many notices in Monash toilets, warning people to be more careful and take extra precautions. But then seems like the level of awareness among the public is still relative low, many people don't seem to care *yet*.

What more scary is that WHO has just announced that this disease has raised to level 6 emergency, meaning that it is now a globally spreading disease, like it or not, that's the fact of it.

Well... Just that when a disease becomes pandemic, it is not merely the responsibility of the Health Ministry and medical personnel. It is a shared responsibility among the community whereby only through co-operation that we can control the spread of this disease. Don't be an ignorant ass or else the fire may burn your ass eventually. @@

Simple things we can do:
1) Watch out for the symptoms
--> Fever
--> Cough and sneeze
--> Fatigue
--> Body aches
--> Running nose
--> Lack of appetite
--> Diarrhea (lao sai) and vomiting in some cases

@@ As long as you have some symptoms listed above, go see doctor please...

2) Get an alcohol-based or any anti-microbe hand wash
--> It is seriously just an extra step only...
--> Especially after nature call or pee pee... :P

3) If you are sick, stay at home

4) Get some face masks whenever possible
--> My friend said a lame joke the other day...
--> She said now everyone can wear double masks already, one for the haze another one for the influenza flu... (Yong, 2009)
--> Well, kinda true thou, you are always welcome to do that... :P

5) Be more informed
--> Internet is not for Facebook, msn, online games, blogging... only.
--> Lolx... Surf the net and get the latest information la...

Well, that day while I was sitting for my International Business paper, there was a question asking about the impact of globalization. I should have written this one also --> Diseases spread faster because of globalization. @@

Killing me softly~

Location: Rawang
Type of house: Double story semi-D
Temperature: Unknown, but very hot
Current body condition: Perspirating and unable to focus
Study progress: None

The weather is so damn hot... I don't know what is the exact temperature, perhaps close to 40 degree Celsius? I know global warming is *global*, as it can be felt in anywhere of the world. But back in Sunway I am staying in 24th floor, much higher than the height of a double story semi-D, which for God's sake I have no idea of the exact height either, the impact is less intense. Much much less intense. In the afternoon, I can still pass the day with a fan, but in Rawang, I don't see the possibility of staying comfortable in the afternoon without getting the aircond on.

And guess what? I hate the idea of on-ing the aircond for long hours. Not that I am afraid of getting dry skin or whatsoever, but it is because this is a causal-effect thing. Everyone stays indoor, on the aircond and start emitting more greenhouse gasses. In the end the weather is getting hotter and accelerate the stupid global warming process @@... Argh!!!

And guess what again... I did not on the aircond despite the stupid hot weather, rediculously thinking to reduce my carbon footprint while others are happily enjoying the breeze of cold air. In the end, I cannot concentrate at all in my study, suana-ing in my room, my lappie is protesting because its inner cooling system was long dead and it cannot take the hot weather any longer than I do @@ Argh!!!

Stupid me. @@ But still even knowing that I am stupid, I will still try to reduce my carbon footprint, even though I know my contribution alone is bloodly insignificant. Truely support tree planting!!! Lets plant back the trees that we destroyed... Please...

The changing world~

We are now experiencing global warming...
Something that is catastrophic enough to kill us all...
To destroy the only living habitat for us human in this universe...
Don't believe me?
Here is the proofs...

Nowadays the weather is soooo hot...
And you started wondering why the sun is getting bigger and bigger...
Agree?

Nowadays you see many fogging going on...
And you started wondering if the mosquito is over-breeding...
Agree?

Nowadays if it does rain...
It does not last long... Usually they come and go...
And often they come with thunder and lighting...
And you started wondering if there is a war outside...
Agree?

Nowadays bacteria and viruses are gaining power against us...
Many people die and millions of them suffer from the diseases they caused...
And you started wondering why human is getting more and more vulnerable each day...
Agree?

Nowadays the crime rate is increasing...
Rob, rape, con, murder, drugs...
Anything that you can possibly think of...
And you started wondering why people are getting so mutated and crazy...
Agree?

Nowadays people are getting more paranoid...
And at the same time helpless with the conditions that we are facing now...
And you started wondering why we ended in such conditions...
Agree?

These are just the *micro* conditions that we are facing now...
Something that we can feel it...
Not to mention those *macro* ones where people tend to ignore...
Such as heat waves, ocean warming, glacier melting, ozone depleting, droughts, fire, extinction, war... and many more...

While human claimed to be the smartest and most intelligent beings on this earth...
It is ironic when we are the one that damage the earth...
Shall we start to do something or let the earth dies eventually?

At least now...
The choice is still on our hand...
The faith of the future generations...
We can still protect them if we start to act now...
Else...
It is time for us to create a *glamour* history for destroying the earth...
